Shower cubicle or walk-in shower? The right choice for your bathroom
Share
The bathroom is no longer just a functional space, but a wellness oasis. The most important question when planning: Should it be a trendy, open "walk-in" solution or the classic, enclosed shower cubicle?
1. The walk-in shower: Modern & airy
A walk-in shower usually consists of a single, fixed glass wall. There is no door; you simply walk in.
- Advantage: Makes small bathrooms appear huge, as the view is not interrupted.
- Advantage: Barrier-free and very easy to clean (fewer hinges).
- Disadvantage: It is often a bit cooler when showering, as the water vapor escapes.
2. The shower cubicle: Warm & sealed
The classic shower cubicle (corner entry, round shower or niche door) completely encloses the shower area.
- Advantage: The splashing water is guaranteed to stay in the shower.
- Advantage: The heat stays in the cabin – ideal for those who prefer warm showers.
- Disadvantage: Increased cleaning effort due to seals and rollers/hinges.
3. Decision-making aid: What suits me?
| criterion | Walk-in wall | Enclosed cabin |
|---|---|---|
| Space requirements | Needs more depth (splash guard) | It even fits into the smallest corners |
| sensation of warmth | Open / Cooler | Closed / Warm |
| Care | Very simple | Medium (limescale on seals) |
Care tip: No matter which product you choose, look for one with a nano-coating (lotus effect). This causes water to simply bead off, giving limescale little chance to build up.
